Sculpture

I think of these sculptures as fossils of the future – an alternative ‘natural’ history; imagined species of the Anthropocine epoch.

In my studio, I am free to explore, experiment, play.
Ideas evolve.

I manipulate my found materials: cutting, layering, heating and repeating processes to what was once food and drink packaging.
I find that plastic bottles, for example, carry a memory of their previous life, manufactured patterns I use to create rhythms in the work, finding a relationship between the manmade stuff and patterns of nature.

I want the viewer to participate in the work, literally interacting with it through touch, making it move in the case of balancing and mobile work; finding the tipping point.
